How Commercial Solar Works
What is Photo Voltaic Solar Energy and How Does It Work?
A Photo Voltaic Solar Energy System creates electricity using the Sun's energy. The process for converting the sun's energy into electricity is known as the photo voltaic process.
Here's how it works:
| Solar panels are grouped in a series of arrays on the roof or ground mounted to absorb the sun's energy in the form of light. | ![]() |

| |
Panels generate direct electric current (DC) from the solar input, which must be converted before it can be used.
| |
The DC power is sent to an inverter which converts it into AC power identical to that being sent to you from the utility grid.
| |
The AC power travels from the inverter to a transformer to connect to the existing grid.
| Excess power flows into the utility grid through the electric meter, causing the meter to run backwards and giving you credit with the utliity company. | ||
| Monitoring software assures system integrity and operation. |
